Executive Team

Jitendra Kavathekar, President and CEO

Jitendra Kavathekar brings over 18 years of experience as an execution driven leader, business strategist, and technologist. Jitendra has built businesses and organizations bringing to market widely recognized and adopted products and services worldwide. In addition, Jitendra's organizations for the past 6 years have been active users of the TWiki platform.

Jitendra joins Twiki, Inc. from Yahoo!, where he was Vice President and Managing Director of Yahoo!'s Web Analytics business. During his tenure, Jitendra grew the Web Analytics business from inception to being a vital part of the company's overall insights strategy serving leading publishers, advertisers, developers, and mobile operators. Prior to his role at Yahoo!, Jitendra led Motorola's technology investment in SCREEN3, a mobile web services platform, resulting in 16 new operators going live with 6 million enabled handsets over a span of 6 quarters. His other experience includes senior leadership roles in startups such as Devicescape, Kleiner and August funded leader in WiFi products and solutions and Pixo (acquired by Sun Microsystems) a pioneer in mobile web. In addition, Jitendra led Palm's core technologies organization responsible for core technologies for all Zire and Tungsten products. Jitendra started his career at Hewlett Packard where his last role was as director of HP's embedded web business.

Jitendra holds an MS and BS in Computer Science from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee where he is a distinguished alumnus.

Peter Thoeny, Chief Technology Officer

Peter Thoeny is the founder of Twiki and has managed the open-sourced TWiki.org project for the last nine years. Peter invented the concept of structured wikis - where free form wiki content can be structured with tailored wiki applications.

He is a recognized thought-leader in Wikis and social software, featured in numerous articles and technology conferences including Linux World, BusinessWeek, The Wall Street Journal and more. A software developer with over 20 years experience, Peter specializes in software architecture, user interface design and web technology.

He graduated from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich, lived in Japan for 8 years working as an engineering manager for Denso building CASE tools, and managed the Knowledge Engineering group at Wind River for several years. He co-authored the Wikis for Dummies book, and is currently working on a Wikis for the Workplace book.

Milind Pansare, VP Marketing

Milind Pansare brings over 20 years of experience in marketing, product management and technology leadership to the management team. Milind has held several leadership roles in alliances, partner and developer programs, product management, product marketing, engineering management and software engineering at large software and systems companies such as Sun Microsystems and Hewlett Packard as well as startups. He has been an advisor to international startups and served as an Executive in Residence at a prominent Silicon Valley technology incubator.

Milind joins Twiki, Inc. from Sun, where he was responsible for the worldwide Sun Partner Advantage program for ISVs. During his tenure at Sun, Milind helped grow Sun's technology partner ecosystem, launch several new products, and develop marketing strategy for products in Sun's Java Software and iPlanet (Sun/AOL/Netscape Alliance) Web Services portfolio. Milind has helped setup overseas organizations and managed international engineering teams.

Milind holds a BS in Computer Science and has held several technical leadership roles, managing teams that developed window systems, user interfaces, secure operating systems and technology in the Java platform.

Will Thomas, VP Strategic Sales and Alliances

Will has over 20 years of experience in the telecom and computer industries. Prior to joining Twiki, Inc. in 2007, Will served as VP of Quality and Global Support for Rackable Systems (now SGI), where he managed all quality and support initiatives for the company's broad range of products worldwide for customers including Microsoft, Yahoo!, Amazon and AOL. Will was also Rackable's "Twiki Champion", having installed the company's first Twiki server in 2003. By mid-2007 the server had 18k page views/month in a company of approximately 300 employees. The corporate Twiki server contained HR information, Quality Inspection and Corrective Action Register Systems (Twiki Applications), and Manufacturing Process Instructions (MPI's).

Prior to Rackable, Will served as VP of Manufacturing for Linux hardware manufacturer Penguin Computing, where he managed primary supplier and CM relationships, significantly improving material costs, delivery lead-times and overall inventory exposure. Before Penguin, Will was founding CEO of triple play DNS and DHCP provider Nominum. During his tenure, the company released open source BIND9 via the ISC and developed its industry leading caching name server. Will has also worked for Ericsson Telecom's Corporate Technology unit and fiber optic player Raynet.

Will holds a BS from SUNY Albany.

Tom Barton, Chairman of the Board

Tom Barton has a successful track record of leading and growing technology-based businesses. He was CEO of Rackable Systems from 2002 to April, 2007. Under his leadership, the company grew from $25M in annual sales to $360M in 2006. He took the company public in June of 2005.

Tom previously served as SVP of Client Services at Red Hat, where he held P&L responsibility for two-thirds of the company's revenue streams. Tom joined Red Hat via its acquisition of Cygnus Solutions, the leader in open source development tools. Tom held many roles at Cygnus including Interim CEO.

Tom holds an MBA, BS, and BA from Stanford University.

Saeed Amidi

Saeed is Founder and CEO of Plug and Play Tech Center, a technology startup accelerator that hosts over 230 International startups. Saeed is also a General Partner at Amidzad Partners. The fund has been investing in technology companies for over 15 years, with over 70 investments, including PayPal (acquired by Ebay), Danger (acquired by Microsoft), Preview Systems, Powerset, Bix, Lending Club, Sigmaquest and Zoosk.

Saeed is a serial entrepreneur and a seasoned executive with over 28 years of experience in founding, operating, and growing successful companies in the United States as well as internationally in Spain, Italy, France and Austria.

Saeed’s recent passion is inspiring and helping entrepreneurs and startups out of universities. He is working closely with Universities such as MIT, Cornell, Harvard, Stanford, Berkeley, Wharton and Dartmouth to identify great entrepreneurs with a passion to execute on their ideas. Saeed is an active member of the technology community and a frequent contributor to numerous charitable foundations. He is also an active member of the Young Presidents Organization, a world-class network of Fortune 500 CEOs, accomplished serial entrepreneurs, and veteran financial executives.


Advisors

Rod Beckstrom

Rod Beckstrom is an entrepreneur, founder and CEO of a publicly-traded company, a best-selling author, avowed environmentalist, public diplomacy leader and, formerly the head of a top-level U.S. federal government agency entrusted with protecting the nation’s communication networks against cyber attack. Rod is currently President and CEO of ICANN, Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers. ICANN is a non-profit entity with participants from all over the world dedicated to keeping the Internet secure, stable and interoperable. It promotes competition and develops policy on the Internet’s unique identifiers.

Rod served as the Director of the National Cybersecurity Center (NCSC) at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security in 2008, where he reported to the Secretary of DHS, and was charged with cooperating directly with the Attorney General, National Security Council, Secretary of Defense, and the Director of National Intelligence (DNI). Prior to joining DHS, he served on the DNI’s Senior Advisory Group. At age 24, Rod started his first company in a garage apartment and, subsequently, grew it into a global enterprise with offices in New York, London, Tokyo, Geneva, Sydney, Palo Alto, Los Angeles, and Hong Kong. CATS Software Inc., went public and later sold. Nobel Laureates Myron Scholes and William F. Sharpe served on the company's boards of directors and advisors. While at CATS Rod helped advance the financial theory of “value at risk,” now used globally for all key banking risk management. Rod co-edited the first book to introduce “value at risk.” Rod also co-founded Mergent Systems, a pioneer in inferential database engines, which Commerce One later acquired for $200 million. From 1999 to 2001, he served as Chairman of Privada, Inc, a leader in technology enabling private, anonymous, and secure credit card transactions over the internet. Rod is a co-founder of TWIKI.NET

Rod has co-authored four books including The Starfish and the Spider: The Unstoppable Power of Leaderless Organizations, a best-selling model for analyzing organizations, leadership styles, and competitive strategy. Rod has an MBA and a BA with Honors and Distinction from Stanford University. He served as Chairman of the Council of Presidents of the combined Stanford student body (ASSU) and was a Fulbright Scholar at the University of St. Gallen in Switzerland.

Dion Hinchcliffe

Dion Hinchcliffe is an internationally recognized business strategist and enterprise architect who works with companies in the Fortune 500, federal government, and Internet startup community.

Dion helps lead the industry by evolving the thinking for next-generation businesses in various social media including ZDNet's influential Enterprise Web 2.0 Blog and the Web 2.0 Blog. He is extensively published in leading industry periodicals and journals including the Microsoft Architecture Journal, AjaxWorld Magazine, SOA/Web Services Journal, and is currently Editor-in-Chief of Social Computing Journal. His thought leading work has been covered in BusinessWeek, CNET News, Wired Magazine, CIO Magazine, and many other well-known periodicals. Dion is also is a regular keynote speaker on the topics of Web 2.0, SOA, and Enterprise 2.0 and has presented or keynoted at Web 2.0 Expo, CeBIT, Business Integration Forum, Interop, JavaOne, SOA Web Services Edge, Enterprise 2.0 Conference, Office 2.0, and many other major business and software conferences. He has also been instrumental in pioneering ideas around next-generation SOA and Product Development 2.0, with many of those ideas being shared in his blog on Musings and Ruminations on Building Great Systems.

Dion is also the founder and owner of the popular Web 2.0 University, the world's leading education solution for Web 2.0 and next generation SOA as well as The Enterprise 2.0 TV Show.

Bob Gourley

Bob Gourley is the editor of CTOvision.com and is the founder and Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Crucial Point LLC, a technology research and advisory firm. His first career was as a naval intelligence officer, which included operational tours afloat and ashore. He was the first J2 at DoD's JTF-CND. He is a former CTO of the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) and a former executive with experience in TRW and Northrop Grumman. He was named one of the top 25 most influential CTOs in the globe by Infoworld in 2007, and selected for AFCEAs award for meritorious service to the intelligence community in 2008. He was named by Washingtonian as one of DC's "Tech Titans" in 2009. Bob was named one of the "Top 25 Most Fascinating Communicators in Government IT" by the Gov2.0 community GovFresh. Bob holds three masters degrees including a master of science degree in scientific and technical intelligence from Naval Postgraduate School, a master of science degree in military science from USMC university, and a master of science degree in computer science from James Madison University. Bob has published over 40 articles on a wide range of topics and is a contributor to the 20 Jan 2009 Book titled "Threats in the Age of Obama."

Bob Flores

Bob Flores is the Founder and President of Applicology Incorporated, an independent consulting firm specializing in informatics and cyber security issues. Prior to starting Applicology, Bob spent 31 years at the Central Intelligence Agency where he held various positions in the Directorate of Intelligence, Directorate of Support, and the National Clandestine Service. Toward the end of his career at the CIA, he spent three years as the CIO's Chief Technology Officer where he was responsible for ensuring that the Agency's technology investments matched the needs of its mission. During this time Bob was also the Agency's representative on several government-wide information sharing committees and councils. In addition to his senior level leadership and management positions, his career included assignments in applications programming, training and education, contract and project management, and both line and staff management roles at various levels of the Agency.

Bob Flores holds Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in Statistics from Virginia Tech.
